The Future Started Yesterday

“If you hear this message, wherever you stand
I'm calling every woman, calling every man
We're the generation
We can't afford to wait
The future started yesterday and we're already late”

The future is what you make of it, its not there for us to predict, its not there to be foreseen, its there to be enabled. The best way for us to predict the future is to create it. In some ways the future is the same for us all, in some ways it’s completely different. In a way the future is the same because it happens at the same time, in five minutes from now something will happen, different things will happen across the world but it will happen at the same time for us all and as humans that is our future.

The future of the world is created by individual decisions, one persons decision to turn on a TV and another’s to start a war could happen in different places but at the same time, they will both create what will be “our” future. Our decisions don’t just create what will be the future of the world; they create our own personal future. Your life is determined by the choices you make whether you feel like it is or not. Even if something happens out of your control, something you didn’t expect or want to happen, it’s the way you choose to deal with it that makes the biggest difference to what “could” happen.

Some of us will be starting a new school, an apprenticeship, getting a job, going to a college or a 6th form and even going to university. All of that is possible because of choices that have been made in the past; all of this is the opportunity for something new, the opportunity to create the future you want. The future started yesterday and we’re already late. It’s the choices that you make now that affect the choices you could make in the future. The future is something that changes every day and it is also something that starts every day too. Make the right decisions and create the future that you want.

“May the dreams of your past be the reality of your future?”
