He left her alone
Like a good loyal soldier
“I’ll be back from the war”
At least that’s what he told her
He knew the enemy
He knew them well
Because all they wanted
Was to send him to hell
He walked down the beaches
With his gun in his hand
Avoiding the shadows
Made from blood in the sand
He wrote letters home
To his beautiful wife
Bringing back memories
Of his civilian life
She’s watching the news
While she’s sitting at home
In a room full of people
She feels so alone
He thinks of his wife
And the lives they will lead
As he charges the beach
Towards his brothers in need
Hit by a bullet
He falls to the ground
He feels no more feelings
He hears no more sound
She stirs in her sleep
She knows something’s wrong
She feels the cold silence
Like the end of a song
His comrades come quickly
As brothers in arms
They keep their heads down
They try to keep calm
He lies on the table
With blood covered hands
His war is now over
Now his blood stains the sand
He takes his last breath
As the angels embrace
She stands at her window
As tears wet her face
