Letting Go

I read a lot of quotes but I only really remember a few. One of the ones I always remember is If you love somebody, let them go. If they return, they were always yours. If they don't, they never were.

This kind of ideology isn’t restricted to just love, it’s about life. Sometimes we have to let go of things, sometimes we have to let people go, and that is where the pain will start. When we let someone go, when you let them leave your life and you see them happier than they ever were with you around, all it can do is hurt. This kind of pain is hard to deal with, it’s close to the pain we feel when we see the one we love, love someone else. It’s the kind of pain that can only be eased and comforted by knowing that this person is now happier because you let them go.

I think that if it seems like people are trying to change or trying to move on, let them. If they are meant to stick around, if they are worth the effort, even with the opportunity to leave, they won’t. If you always give people the freedom to leave you, but hope that they won’t, then those that stick around are those that deserve for you to stay.

Havelock Ellis said that “All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on”.

  2. I can relate so much Tom Tom, I see it 5 times a week, and if I'm not seeing it, people feel the need to tell me.

But Chin up, we've got so much ahead of us.
